Planner and OneNote
If you use Microsoft Planner or are considering it, there is a feature buried in it’s menus that may help you make up your mind.
Whenever you create a project in Planner, you can also create a OneNote notebook associated with that project for tracking your project notes.
Next to the main navigation options in your new plan, click on the more button “…” to access additional features for Planner. One of those features is labeled “Notebook”, which honestly they should rename to “OneNote” because that’s exactly what it is!
Clicking Notebook will open a new tab in your browser and spin up a fresh new OneNote notebook connected to your project for all your notes and information.
Important observation here - since the notebook is in OneNote Web you can use it immediately OR you can click on Editing in the upper right and then Open in Desktop to open the notebook in OneNote Desktop.
Now you can copy things into the notebook, screenshot, move things from other notebooks, and export to PDF…all the wonderful things you could do with a notebook you created inside OneNote.
The best part is the notebook is already in the cloud (your Microsoft 365 instance) so information is saved and synched for your protection.
