Managing Change at The Idea Pump
Hopefully you’ve noticed that if you went to The Idea Pump website you didn’t wind up there, but you wound up here at GelwicksTech. You may be wondering, “what the heck is going on here?” Let me explain the reason for the change and the future of GelwicksTech.
Let’s begin with The Idea Pump. The original “idea” for that site was to provide a center-point for ideas and techniques to help people become more productive. In that mission it succeeded more than my greatest expectations. After hundreds of thousands of visitors benefiting from the content shared, we were faced with a new reality.
In this crazy pandemic world of ours, so many have come to realize the old ways we were working don’t work anymore. It’s not about the “hustle”. It’s no longer about how much can you get done in the limited time you have each week. We don’t define ourselves by our jobs or our companies any longer. If there is one thing we have learned from the past two years, it is we are beholden to ourselves to what is right for us, our loved ones, and our own goals in life.
This is what has triggered the change here not only in name but in mission. We have one core goal now, something we want to share with all our visitors and help them achieve:
WORK LESS
Sounds strange doesn’t it? A site focused on productivity trying to get you to work less? Let’s expand the thought a little and see if that helps:
WORK LESS…SO THERE IS MORE TIME FOR YOU
You see, what we have come to recognize is traditional productivity advice DOES encourage you to work less, i.e. more efficiently, but then tacks on the end that working more efficiently is so you can do more work. We don’t think that's right, relevant, or healthy any longer.
As we move into 2022 and beyond, you’ll see our content shift with the underlying message, “how does this help you work less so you have more time for yourself?” We hope you’ll continue with us on this journey as we explore these new ways of working and living in today’s world. It’s going to be interesting if nothing else.
